SkydiveSpot ("we", "our", or "the app") is a skydiving spotting application. This privacy policy explains what data is collected when you use the app, how it is used, and your choices regarding that data.
When you publish or edit a dropzone, we store the following information in our database: dropzone name, coordinates (latitude and longitude), elevation, and optionally the operator name. We also store timestamps for when a dropzone was created and last updated. This data is not linked to your identity — dropzones are shared publicly and are not associated with user accounts.
We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, or any other personal information.
The app uses your device's location to show nearby dropzones and to help you plan jump runs. Your location is used on-device and is not sent to our servers. However, your approximate location may be transmitted to third-party map services (see below) as part of rendering the map.
The app integrates third-party services that may collect data independently. We do not control the data these services collect, and their use is governed by their own privacy policies.
We use Google Maps to display maps within the app. Google may collect:
For details, see the Google Privacy Policy.
We use Firebase for our backend services including data storage (Firestore) and cloud functions. Firebase may collect:
For details, see the Firebase Privacy Policy.
We use the Open-Meteo API to fetch weather and wind forecasts for jump run planning. When requesting a forecast, the coordinates of the selected dropzone are sent to Open-Meteo. No personal data is transmitted.
For details, see: https://open-meteo.com/en/terms
The app stores your preferences and draft (unpublished) dropzones locally on your device. This data is not transmitted to our servers unless you choose to publish a dropzone.
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties. Published dropzone data (name, location, runway direction) is publicly accessible to all app users.
Published dropzone data is retained indefinitely unless you request its removal.
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
